Glycol

Glycol CAS:107-21-1

Glycol for use

【 Purpose 1 】Mainly used in the production of synthetic resins, surfactants and explosives, but also used as antifreeze.

【 Purpose 2 】Used as analytical reagent, chromatographic reagent and capacitive medium.

【 Purpose 3 】Mainly used in the production of polyester resin, alkyd resin, plasticizer, antifreeze, also used in cosmetics and explosives.

【 Purpose 4 】Ethylene glycol is an intermediate between the fungicides pentacyclozole and oxadoxin.

【 Purpose 5 】Ethylene glycol is mainly used to prepare antifreeze agent for automotive cooling system and the production of polyethylene terephthalate (polyester fiber and polyester plastic raw material), but also can be used in the production of synthetic resins, solvents, lubricants, surfactants, softeners, humidifiers, explosives, etc. Glycol is often used in place of glycerin as a water mixture and solvent in the tanning and pharmaceutical industries, respectively. Ethylene glycol is very soluble, but it is easy to metabolize and oxidize to oxalic acid, so it is not widely used as a solvent. Adding glycol to hydraulic fluid prevents the erosion of rubber in the system by oil-based hydraulic fluid; Water based hydraulic fluid with ethylene glycol as the main component is a non-combustible hydraulic fluid, which is used in aircraft, automobiles and high temperature operation of the molding press. Glycol has a number of important derivatives. Low molecular weight polyethylene glycol (ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol or diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, tetraethylene glycol, respectively) is actually a byproduct of ethylene glycol prepared from ethylene oxide. Diethylene glycol can be used as humidifier, plasticizer, sizing agent, printing ink solvent, natural gas dehydration desiccant and aromatics extraction solvent. Similar to glycol dinitrate, diethylene glycol dinitrate is also an important industrial explosive. High molecular weight polyethylene glycol is also a useful class of derivatives, ranging from colorless transparent viscous liquids to waxy solids, depending on molecular weight. It is used as lubricant, moisture retention agent, solvent, intermediate in rubber and food industry, and also used to prepare cosmetics, textile, paper and other fields. Glycol has many esters and is widely used as a solvent. Glycol esters of long-chain fatty acids have surface improvement properties and can be used alone or in combination with surfactants as emulsifiers, stabilizers, dispersants, humidifiers, foaming agents and suspension agents. Ethylene glycol reacts with urea to form cycloethyleneurea, which is used in textile industry. Glycol disodium reacts with 1, 2-dibromo-ethane to form dioxane, a special solvent. Different oxidants or reaction conditions are used for ethylene glycol. Glycolaldehyde, glycolic acid, oxalic acid and so on can be obtained after oxidation.

【 Purpose 6 】Gas chromatography fixed solution (maximum use temperature 50℃, solvent is chloroform), separation and analysis of low boiling point oxygen compounds, amine compounds, nitrogen or oxyheterocyclic compounds. Determination of cement in calcium oxide, solvent, antifreeze, manufacturing polyester resin, plasticizer, cosmetics, explosives, cold lubricating oil, surfactants, varnish, dyes, ink, organic synthesis.
